Today I served my jury service at our courthouse. This time it was my closest time ever to get on a jury. But at the very last the plaintiff's attorney thanked me and said good bye. It was a civil case and not much of one at that. Yet being in the jury room at 8 a.m. was fun. I mean everyone had these long faces, no one seemed to want to serve. What's up with that? I brought my iPod Nano, a book, and my pda. I didn't want to sit there all day doing nothing. We loaded like sardines into the elevator at ten o'clock to head up to the fourth floor to courtroom 41. Judge Martin (retired) resided. The place was packed. Then the droning started. That's when the lame excuses began. A friend of a friend, knew a kid, who hit, or did something or other, which makes me unable to give an unbiased judgment. If the judge could do it without getting caught I'm sure he would have rolled his eyes. One right after another were excused. At least my service is completed for another year and I didn't give an excuse.Posted by Candy
