Annie and Tommy Sweeney - Posted by Proud Mother Heather

Annie (almost 5) and Tommy (3) now both attend the Kick N' Fun Karate School. The 'Potty-for-Karate' program (the name courtesy of Mr. Dorsey, Annie's karate teacher) was the deal that we made with Tommy that when hewas potty-trained then he would be allowed to join karate. The incentive worked and he is now a Little Dragon. Annie and Tommy have been in the same class, The Little Dragons, for the last2 weeks, but when Annie turns five, January 11th, she will move up to the Sidekicks class. They are having lots of fun and learning some very important life lessons along the way.

The last few days they have been practicing sock grappling. Each of the kids wears one sock, and they pair up. The goal is to get theother persons sock off before they get yours. The pictures are from about two weeks ago when they were practicing hammering and blocking. It is a kick to watch (pun intended).

Annie was invited to a special karate class before Christmas. Only the top students in her class were invited to attend. There was a guest instructor and the class cost $24.95. We told her that she would have to help raise the money for the class, so she collected all the spare change around the house and Tom donated his change jar. When we took her to cash in the coins, she had collected a total of $82.00! She paid for her class and a few Christmas presents for her friends! Annie was very proud of herself (and Tom and I were too!).

Hope you all had a great Christmas, and Happy New Year! I have been posting a lot of pictures on my MySpace page if you want to take a look.
